Torbay Development Agency (TDA) supporting businesses to develop relationships in Eastern Europe
Thanks to the funding available via the South West Peninsula City Deal, the TDA is offering businesses the opportunity to participate in a trade mission to Eastern Europe this November.
Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver said: “I urge all businesses in Torbay that are involved in export to find out about how they could benefit from the opportunities in Central Eastern Europe as part of our trade mission in November. The TDA’s Economy and Enterprise Manager is on hand to discuss ideas and requirements from local businesses that may be considering taking part in this important mission.”
Identifying potential markets for overseas trading can be a daunting process at first, and making face to face contacts can be a crucial part of success.
With a number of opportunities available for businesses in engineering, agriculture, infrastructure, food and drink and many more sectors; Eastern Europe offers businesses starting to explore export an opportunity to expand overseas in close proximity markets outside of the EU.
Levels of English in Hungary, Slovakia and neighbouring markets are high, making it easy to trade. The export opportunities are partly due to the growing middle class in these countries who are often very interested in the UK’s technology and food and drink sector, and have a disposable income which they are willing to spend on UK goods.
By taking interested businesses overseas to meet potential new customers face to face the TDA hopes to further boost the number of South West exports and encourage businesses to develop their overseas contacts to aid growth and development.
The trade mission will be visiting the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia from the 3-7 November 2014 and places will be part-funded by the TDA via the South West Peninsula City Deal.
Any Torbay business working in one of the above industries, or those with an interest in discussing how their business could benefit from trading overseas, can call the TDA’s Economy and Enterprise Manager, Carl Wyard, to discuss the trade mission or set up a meeting: 01803 208491 or email [email protected].
